Introspective Breathwork™ and working with the elements in the body

I really like to approach breathwork from the perspective of the elements in the body. There is a science approach to breathwork and it will get its own post.

Breathwork is first and foremost an increase of the wind element in the body. You start connecting your inhale and exhale. This modified breath pattern increases the quantity of air you bring into the body.

You increase the amount of air  you bring into the body and the fire element in you gets more fuel. What happens to a fire that has more fuel? It gets hotter. This causes a direct impact on the water element of the body.

The things you put on ice in yourself, that you tried not to feel. They start to thaw as you bring more heat into the energetic system of the body. They start to flow and mix into the water of your body. You can almost see them as toxins that need to be removed from the system, water in need of purification, that needs to be boiled… or filtered through the breath.

This whole process will go on for a while. Moving with the energy, the ice that thaws will bring more water and, through the breath, more purified water into your body. This leads to more flow in your life as you open space within you (ice takes more space than water), a feeling of expansion.

The added air in your body might also bring you into states of flight, lifting you up on the thermals and bringing you into the realm of the hawk and the eagle. This vantage point can lead to insights and clearer vision about the situations in your life.

Throughout the process we make sure that you stay connected with the body, through resourcing, pendulation and if necessary co-regulation, we work on allowing you to ground yourself in the body and accessing more earth through the body. Grounding the newfound energy and nurturing the space that was liberated through integration practices following your breathwork session.

There you have it, how Introspective Breathwork™ works with the elements in you…
